Kick for a Cure 2020: CBT SoCal’s Dr. Jason von Stietz sponsors cancer research fundraiser held by Women’s Premiere Soccer League team
CBT SoCal’s Dr. Jason von Stietz will be supporting a local Women’s Premiere Soccer League (WPSL) team in their efforts to raise money for cancer research in their 2nd annual Kick for a Cure fundraiser. The Torrance-based WPSL team, Invictus Athletic Club Feminae (formerly Salsa Soccer Club), will be unable to host fundraising soccer games as they did last year, due to the pandemic. Therefore, they will host a “telethon” via Instagram in which the players will interact with fans and auction off gift baskets filled with prizes. Many of the prizes will be donated by team sponsors such as Dr. von Stietz. The participants who win the auctions for the grand prize gift baskets will be eligible for a free mental health or sport psychology telehealth consultation, among many other prizes donated by sponsors. Like last year, the money will be donated to the Torrance Memorial hospital.
Dr. von Stietz has helped Invictus with their mental game for two years by providing sport psychology services. He provided weekly team building sessions via video chat throughout much of the pandemic while the “shelter in place” orders were still in effect. These weekly meetings helped the team to continue to bond, support each other, and fine tune their mental skills while unable to practice their physical skills.
