What is the difference between OCD and OCPD?
Most of us have heard of obsessive compulsive disorder? However, what is obsessive compulsive personality disorder (OCPD)? Stuart Ralph, host of The OCD Stories podcast, interviewed clinical psychologist Dr. Steven Phillipson about the difference between OCD and OCPD. Phillipson explained that OCD is a disorder driven by anxiety related to irrational thoughts. OCPD on the other hand, does not involve rituals, but involves personality issues including inflexible and moralistic thought processes.
At the CBT Center of Southern California, we use cognitive behavior therapy and related evidence-based approaches to treat OCD and related disorders. If you are interested in learning more about the OCD and related disorders feel free to contact us for free phone consultation.
