  • CBT SoCal’s Melissa Aristoza, ACSW leads training on inpatient treatment for OCD and anxiety

CBT SoCal recently welcomed Melissa Aristoza, ACSW to the team and she already led a staff training. As an associate clinical social worker she supports children, teens, families, and adults dealing with issues related to obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, autism, and addiction. She completed advanced training and worked at Rogers Behavioral Health, the nation’s premier intensive treatment program for obsessive compulsive and anxiety disorders. Her experience includes utilizing evidence-based practices such as exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and behavioral activation (BA).

What can people expect from an inpatient treatment center?

Recently, Melissa informed the rest of the CBT SoCal staff about what people can expect when seeking treatment at an inpatient treatment center such as Rogers Behavioral Health. Treatment centers such as Rogers often provide multiple levels of care including an intensive outpatient program (IOP) in which people continue residing in their home and engage in treatment for about 3 hours every weekday. Partial hospitalization care (PHP) involves residing at home and meeting at the center for 6 to 7 hours of treatment a day. Residential treatment, on the other hand, involves living on campus while engaging in several hours of treatment each day. *

Melissa discussed how treatment at a facility such as Rogers involves a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers such as social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, and dieticians. Treatment typically involves psychiatric care, individual therapy, group therapy, as well as check-in/support groups.

Seeking mental healthcare at a facility such as Rogers is an excellent choice for those who need it. However, it is not the right fit for everyone.

CBT SoCal offers outpatient psychotherapy with therapist specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy. Contact us to find out more about the benefits of working with one of our therapists.

*Typically IOP and PHP levels of care happen in clinic/on-site but depending on the sate of the COVID pandemic, these services may be provided at-home via telehealth.
