Invictus Athletic Club Feminae, a Women’s Premier League Soccer (WPSL) team, recently announced on Instagram that they are continuing to partner with CBT SoCal’s Dr. Jason von Stietz for the WPSL 2021 season. Dr. von Stietz has provided team building and mental skills training for Invictus since the summer of 2019.
When the pandemic abruptly ended most athletic competitions in 2020, Dr. von Stietz continued meeting with Invictus for much of the summer providing online sport psychology trainings. During these meetings the players would check-in on how they were each managing stress related to COVID-19, engage in team building exercises, and hone their mental skills. These weekly meetings helped the team to continue to bond, act as a support system for each other, and fine tune their mental skills while unable to practice their physical skills.
In the months following the beginning of the pandemic, Dr. von Stietz met with Invictus head coach, Aaron Rodriguez, on IGTV to discuss sport psychology. Dr. von Stietz discussed topics such as mental health, team cohesion, and developing a pregame routine among other things.
More recently, Dr. von Stietz helped sponsor Invictus’s 2nd Annual Kick for a Cure, a fundraiser for breast cancer research. The team held an online telethon, which involved auctioning gift baskets filled with prized donated by sponsors. All the money raised during the telethon was donated to Torrance Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Jason von Stietz specializes in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Sport/Performance Psychology in Torrance, CA. He provides online therapy (telehealth) by way of the Torrance office and is available for a free initial phone consultation. Dr. von Stietz works with individuals from Long Beach, the greater Los Angeles area, and the South Bay including Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, El Segundo and all over California.
