CBT SoCal’s Molly Wassel, ASW led staff training on gender affirming care
At CBT SoCal, our mission is to provide effective cognitive behavior therapy that helps people to find a new understanding of themselves in a way that helps them to live their life on their own terms. As a part of our mission, we accept and affirm the dignity of all persons. Recently, CBT SoCal’s Molly Wassel, ASW (she, her) led a staff training on providing gender affirming care to the trans and non-binary community.
Molly is a queer-allied associate clinical social worker. Among Molly’s areas of expertise, she specializes in gender identity and dysphoria, and sexual identities/ non-traditional relationships. Previously, she worked at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Center for Transyouth Health and Development, delivering gender-affirming individual and group psychotherapy to build self-esteem and strengthen interpersonal relationships.
Molly educated CBT SoCal staff about important trans issues such as social transitions trans people experience such as changes in their hair, clothes, name, and pronouns. She educated staff about hormonal therapy and surgical interventions. Molly also trained staff in the importance of gender affirming and confirming language. For example, the term Mx. is a gender neutral alternative to the terms Mr. or Ms.
CBT SoCal strives to provide the most effective and affirming care possible. Contact us for a free phone consultation to learn more about how CBT can help you.
