OCD SoCal 3rd Annual Conference was a Success!

The Third Annual Conference sponsored by OCDSoCal (the Southern California affiliate of the International Obsessive Compulsive Foundation) Saturday, March 24 in Irvine was a huge success! There were over 240 attendees (OCD sufferers, their families and friends, along with OCD clinicians) from all over Southern California who came together to learn about and share information and stories about OCD and its treatment. Clint and Joanie Malarchuk (Clint was an NHL goalie) recounted their journey through OCD and how they have struggled with and learned from Clint’s severe OCD.  Their story was very inspiring and there was standing room only for their talk and the question and answer period that followed.

The afternoon featured panel discussions regarding various types and aspects of OCD and its treatments.  Drs. Martin Hsia and Rodney Boone organized and moderated a breakout session entitled:  “Beyond Contamination: Other OCD subtypes and related disorders”. There was a lively discussion following the presentations of the panel.

The conference was very exciting and moving for the people who attended and significantly furthered the ongoing attempts to build the OCD community in Southern California. Don’t miss the 2019 conference!
