Talk on Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) given to medical doctors by Dr. Martin Hsia
Recently, Dr. Martin Hsia, CBT SoCal’s Assistant Director, lectured on “Behavioral Approaches to Treating Insomnia” for Family Medicine Residents at Northridge Hospital. Highlights included an overview of the research on the importance of sleep, statistics on the incidence of insomnia in the U.S., and an introduction to the key components of Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi). The medical doctors were able to learn about CBTi, stimulus control, sleep restriction, sleep hygiene, common misconceptions about sleep, habits that promote good sleep, and ways to address the anxiety that people can develop around sleep issues.
